Fragrance

Eau de parfum, eau de toilette and solid balms, with the scent family and bottle size stated on every listing.

The difference between the two labels is concentration, not quality. Eau de toilette is lighter and fades sooner, which makes it the easier choice for work or warm weather. Eau de parfum is stronger and holds longer, so one or two sprays is usually plenty — anything heavier tends to arrive in a room before you do. Oud, agarwood and sandalwood scents sit at the rich end and suit evenings and colder months; citrus and fresh scents are the ones to reach for during the day.

Solid perfume balms are worth knowing about if you travel. Nothing spills in a bag, and they pass the hand-luggage rules that catch out liquid sprays.
