Anklets

Beaded and woven anklets, including waterproof styles for summer.

An anklet is sized differently from a bracelet because it is meant to drape rather than grip. Measure round the ankle just above the bone and add about 2cm — most people land between 24cm and 27cm. Worn a touch loose it moves as you walk, which is the whole point; worn tight it reads as a bracelet in the wrong place.

Summer is where these earn their keep, so material matters. Waxed cord, shell, glass beads and titanium steel are genuinely fine in salt water and sand, and a waterproof anklet in those materials can stay on all holiday. Plated brass and real leather cannot — salt water dulls plating quickly and stiffens leather.

Shell and starfish styles sit naturally with bare feet and sandals; a fine chain works better under trousers if you would rather it were only half seen.
