Stands, holders and the small desk kit that makes a laptop or a phone easier to live with for eight hours a day.

A laptop stand earns its place for one reason: it lifts the screen towards eye level, so you stop looking down at it. If you work from a laptop all day that is the cheapest change you can make to how your neck feels by the evening. The trade-off is that once the screen is up, the keyboard is at the wrong angle, so a raised stand really wants a separate keyboard alongside it.

Folding aluminium stands travel well and draw heat away from the underside of the machine. Wooden ones sit better on a desk you also eat at. A vertical laptop holder does the opposite job, storing a closed machine on its edge to give you the desk back.

Phone stands are mostly about video calls and propping a recipe up in the kitchen. Check the angle range if you want to use one in portrait as well as landscape.
